Taxation, Security and Insurance

To get an insurance for the our old-timer a few tasks needed to be performed:

Taxation, Alarm (Garage), Alarm (Car), Insurance

Taxation

The value of the car for the Dutch market needed to be determine first before our car could be insured.  Therefore we selected someone who made it his profession to rate the value of old-timers.  We selected a company called Gratama.  Again this was an existing event since we bought the car for app. € 33.500 and we were curious what the car would do on the Dutch market.  The guys rating the car was quite positive about the car, it didn't had any noticeable wreckage signs, the paint work was well done and the car had many original parts (titlehough not all of them are Corvette parts I found out a few month later).  The car was qualifying, in its current state, for a C classification (probably a class 3 in the States).

Alarm (Garage)

Since I'm scared to death that I wake up one morning and I find our garage empty I decided right away it was time to ensure all the locks were renewed by burglar proof types and that an alarm system was installed (also for our house).  Hopefully this prevents my worst nightmare of finding an empty garage but you never know in the Netherlands (these days you it seems to be forbidden to have nice stuff).

Alarm (Car)

In the Netherlands a lot of insurance companies dictate that your old-timer should be fitted with a class III alarm system.  I must admit that I find it an assuring idea that when I dared to park my car in Amsterdam it at least is protected by an alarm system.  You hope this helps and someone bothers to have a look when it starts screaming but at least it should scare away potential burglars.

Insurance

Our old-timer is insured at Kuipers in Heerenveen.  This company had a very sharp price and good conditions for insuring old-timers.  We selected them after receiving 5 quotes of different insurance companies..
